Every day that we drive to our new British Beds Worldwide Offices on Dartmoor we consider ourselves very fortunate to live near and work in such a beautiful and dramatic location. The ever-changing light offers constant new perspectives of Sheepstor - once Shittestorre! - and the time of year is approaching when the sun will rise behind it during our morning drive to create an artist's masterpiece. The skies and the landscape are a match for anywhere in the World, and we enjoy them five days a week!

From killer hairy hands to shy black beasts to mysterious flowers on graves to abused grey mares, Dartmoor has a host of legends. With human settlements dating from over 4000 years ago, it is not surprising that myths and legends abound here. Just recently, however, the living legend that is Steven Spielberg has been working here on Dartmoor just a mile or so from our offices to direct and produce his latest block-buster film, War Horse.

"Oscar winning Hollywood director Steven Spielberg has heaped praise on Dartmoor saying he believes there is no place like it in the world. Speaking shortly after the UK premiere of 'War Horse' - which was partly shot in on the land above Sheepstor - he said he considers its landscape and skyline to be the film's 'third character'."

The acclaimed director previously wrote a letter to The Herald explaining he felt he had "hardly scratched the surface" of what Dartmoor has to offer.
